THE WAIT FOR LEVEL 5 (VERSION TWO) IS OVER PROFESSIONAL IQ COLLEGE OPEN FOR ENROLMENTS
If you’ve been waiting for the latest version of the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5) to get your qualification underway, the wait is over. Professional IQ College is open for enrolments and offers dedicated Distance Learning to support advisers in attaining the qualification.
What’s changed between Version 1 and Version 2?
The new version of the NZCFS (Level 5) qualification includes the latest technical and regulatory content, and as well as catering for new advisers, provides important improvements in the learning process for experienced advisers, for example:
- The Financial Advice elective module has been removed. Now, in Version 2, the financial advice process is covered in more specialist detail in the relevant Specialty stream (for example Residential Property Lending).
- In Version 2, the mandatory Core module is based on the Financial Services Legislation Amendment Act and changes to the Financial Markets Conduct Act.
- Version 2 better reflects the learning needs of experienced advisers. How? Rather than relying only on theoretical and technical content, now advisers can demonstrate their knowledge through a portfolio of evidence to show how they applied that knowledge to real-life clients. Of course, for advisers new to the profession, case study material is provided.
What is Distance Learning?
Distance learning provides important support for students; it’s not like online learning in which students essentially go it alone.
At Professional IQ College every adviser is supported by a Learning Plan and is assigned a Student Liaison Co-ordinator. The Student Liaison Co-ordinator is available five days a week for questions, and conducts a monthly one-on-one session to help advisers keep their Level 5 learning on track. And what’s more, your Assessor is readily available to help with queries and feedback on assessments submitted.
What about the Completion Subsidy?
The $550 plus GST subsidy is available on completion of the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services Level 5, defined as Core plus (at least) one specialty Module. To find out more about eligibility criteria and how it works, contact the team at the College.
What can I enrol in now?
The College’s Version 2 of the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5) qualification includes Core plus (at least) one of the following specialty modules: Investment; Life, Disability and Health Insurance; General Insurance; and Residential Property Lending.
The College is currently taking enrolments for the mandatory Core module and the General Insurance Specialty module. The Life, Disability and Health Insurance, Residential Property Lending and Investment modules are being finalised and will be available shortly. Our recommendation: complete Core first, by which time your Specialty module(s) of choice will be ready and waiting.
