To become a Financial Adviser (FA) in New Zealand students are required to meet the educational requirements of the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services which states that
“A person must not give financial advice unless the person meets the standard of general competence, knowledge, and skill.”
The New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5), is the minimum competency standard required.
Financial Adviser Pathway
The New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5) has been developed to provide students with specific knowledge for those working or seeking work in New Zealand’s financial services sector.
Investment strand – is of particular relevance to investment advisers, paraplanners, investment adviser support and business development managers.
Life, Disability, and Health Insurance strand – is of particular relevance to Life, disability, and health insurance advisers, technical specialist, adviser support, and business development managers.
General Insurance strand – is of particular relevance to general insurance advisers, general insurance brokers, technical specialists, adviser or broker support, business development managers.
Residential Property Lending – is of particular relevance to mortgage brokers, technical specialists, broker support and business development managers.
