The Skills Organisation
THE SKILLS ORGANISATION is the industry training organisation responsible for designing and managing the training systems for financial services industry trainees in New Zealand. They assist the financial services industry in meeting their identified current and future skill needs.
In relation to the Financial Advisers Act 2008, THE SKILLS ORGANISATION is mandated to enable assessment of competency for the purposes of authorization of financial advisers. They act as a bridge between industry, NZQA, the tertiary sector and the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) in matters relating to competency and industry qualifications.
Students enrolling on a New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 qualification will be required to register with The Skills Organisation if they are completing the financial advice module. This registration is included as part of your enrolment.
The Financial Advise Module includes unit standards 26360 and 25650,51,52,53

Skills Organisation Assessment
The Financial Advice Strand of the New Zealand Certificate In Financial Services Level 5 is considered a key component to the current Financial Services Regulation, and for this reason the assessment is Unit standards 25650,51,52,53 and 26360 are assessed by the Skills Organisation.
Students enroling in these units standards will be required to register with The Skills Organisation. This registration and all assessment costs are included as part of your enrolment with Professional IQ College.
Once you have read the study material and are ready for assessment follow these steps:
- Register with Skills on https://portal.skills.org.nz/. (How?)
- Skills will then email confirmation to you, with a log in and an FSC number.
- Email us your FSC number when you are ready to be assessed.(so we can arrange payment).
- Once paid we will confirm that you can log in, activate your account and book your assessment.(here's some screen slides to show how - pdf)
Unit Standards 25650,51,52,53
Assessment of these unit standards requires the student to upload 3 client files for assessment by an approved assessor.
Once we have confirmed payment to you you can login and arrange to download a "Candidate assessment pack" This is a set of documents that explains the assessment process and what information your are required to upload.
Read the assessment pack carefully and use the “workplace evidence checklist” as a guide to the type of documents required for assessment. This candidate assessment pack will also include forms that you will have to fill in and upload.
Unit Standard 26360
The Skills Organisation has examination venues located throughout New Zealand. If you are enrolled in a course that has a Skills Organisation examination, you can book your examination venue closest to your home address.
Login and request an exam, and you will be emailed a request to contact an administration person, to discuss your exam requirements.
They will then guide you from there to book online the exam time and location that best suits you.
On attendance to the exam you will need to provide details of the proof of identity, which will be checked against the information provided by you on enrolment with Professional IQ College. Photocopies of these documents will not be accepted.
