This enrolment leads to the General Insurance full strand of the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services Level 5.

It is relevant to for general insurance brokers and general underwriting personal.

The enrolment includes the Core Knowledge module +  General Insurance module.

Core Knowledge

Content 

This module provides an understanding of the level of professionalism required in the financial services industry. You will gain an understanding of the wider financial services environment and research fit for purpose financial or insurance solutions.  Details of the unit standards included in this module are shown below. (NZQA 35 Credits)

In order to gain the certificate in Financial Services Level 5 this module is a core compulsory component, i.e it must be completed in conjunction with another module to complete the full qualification strand

Your choice of strand will depend on your circumstances - you can see a full summary here. 

Assessment 

4 study guides are provides for these four unit standards, and the assessment is predominantly evidence based.

This means actual workplace examples of clients are used to demonstrate that you can put into practice the learning contained within the study guide.

Documents can be uploaded using the student dashboard function, scanned and email to your tutor, or posted to our offices. note that client names should be removed.

Time frame for this module is 28 weeks. 


General Insurance Module

Content 

This module provides an understanding of  General risk management concepts and the legislative and regulatory environment associated with general insurance. You will gain a broad understanding of General Insurance products and services available to provide fit for purpose solutions for General Insurance clients.

Details of the unit standards included in this module are shown below. (NZQA 30 Credits) 

Assessment 

A study guide is provided for each unit standard along with an assessment document.

Assessment is by way of 3 written assessment documents which can be downloaded from your dashboard. 

Work can be completed either as a word document, or similar, or written. On completion work can be uploaded on your student dashboard for the tutor to assess.

Time frame for this module is 21 weeks.

  • Provide a range of financial advice solutions using knowledge of key factors in the economic environment that impact participants in the financial services sector.


Module 1 Core - Providing Financial Advice

  • Interpret applicable provisions in the regulatory framework to use when providing Financial Advice and Financial Advice Services.


Module 4 - General Insurance Concepts and Principles

This module provides an understanding of management concepts and the legislative and regulatory environment associated with general insurance. Enabling graduates to gain a broad understanding of General Insurance products and services available to provide fit for purpose solutions for General Insurance clients using an appropriate six step advice process.

Objectives
  • Provide general insurance services using knowledge of general insurance concepts, legislation, regulations, codes of conduct; and the purpose, responsibilities and roles of participants.

Objectives
  • Develop solutions to residential property lending needs using knowledge of the relationship between the economic environment and events, the residential property market, and the impacts on residential property lending.
  • Analyse residential property lending products, structures, and options, when developing solutions to a range of residential property lending needs.
