Insurance & Financial Services Ombudsman, Karen Stevens, will take you through several health insurance complaints and explain how the IFSO Scheme interprets policy wording. Karen will discuss legal approaches to policy interpretation and how specific words can influence the outcome of a claim. This will be of interest to those of you who sell health and health related products to clients, because clients may often expect the policy to cover all medical events, they can find it difficult to read the different components of a policy and some clients struggle to apply exclusions to their circumstances. This will help you to explain what to look out for and could save your clients the disappointment of a declined claim.
