You will gain a broad understanding of  General Insurance products and services available to provide fit for purpose solutions for General Insurance clients.

Assessment 

A study guide is provided for each unit standard along with an assessment document.

Assessment is by way of 4 written assessment documents which can be downloaded from your dashboard. 

Work can be completed either as a word document, or similar, or written. On completion work can be uploaded on your student dashboard for the tutor to assess.

 This unit standard is one of 4 that make up the General  Insurance module. In this unit you will gain an understanding of: 

  • The types of risk and concepts of insurance in a Fire and General Insurance context
  • How to evaluate and manage risk in a Fire and General Insurance context
Objectives
  • To learn about and understand key insurance risk comcepts such as client tolerance, aversion to and attitude to risk
  • To learn about and understand general insurance risk concepts and types and their relevance to insurance products
  • To understand risk exposure and methods of managing risk for a range of fire and general insurance situations
  • To evaluate and manage risk exposures in a general insurance context and identify risks that are insurable and those which are not insurable


General Insurance Legislation Regulations & Codes of Practice

  • The key provisions of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice
  • The roles, responsibilities, and interrelationships in fire & general insurance organisations
     
Objectives
  • To learn the interrelationships between the key roles in Fire and General Insurance organisations
  • To learn and understand the key provisions of the Legislative Regulatory framework and Codes of Practice that impact your daily work in a Fire and General Insurance organisation
  • To identify and understand the roles and responsibilities in a Fire & General Insurance organisation

  • How to identify clients insurance needs
  • How to identify appropriate general insurance policies and products
  • Policy ownership considerations relevant to General Insurance
  • General Insurance products and services that meet general insurance needs
Objectives
  • To identify Fire and General Insurance products and services features, benefits, risks and limitation in the context of arranging cover or pursuing a claim
  • To identify clients Fire and General Insurance needs and provide fit for purpose policies and covers that meet client needs
  • To identify and understand the specific features, structures, cover and terms and conditions for Fire and General Insurance products
  • To understand the impact of various ownership structures in relation to Fire and General Insurance policies and impacts on insurance contracts


General Insurance Product Application and Review Process

  • General insurance policy issuance, maintenance, and claims process
  • The considerations and relevant issues for a general insurance review.
     
Objectives
  • To compare the advantages and disadvantages between an existing Fire and General Insurance programme and a proposed insurance programme
  • To learn and understand the steps in policy issue, policy maintenance, claims for Fire and General Insurance polices
  • To identify considerations that trigger the review process for Fire and General Insurance programme
