Professional IQ is approved by Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ) as a provider of qualifications. This means that if you are currently receiving a benefit and want to get qualified as a financial adviser, you may be eligible for your course fees to be paid for by WINZ under the Training Incentive Allowance. If you qualify, the process is relatively straightforward and requires you to approach your WINZ Case Manager and make a request.
While the process is straightforward, not all WINZ Case Managers may be familiar with it. We have an information pack that we can share with you and your Case Manager when you get to this stage.

ACC Funding for Vocational Training for Approved Candidates
If you are unable to return to your pre-injury role, you may be eligible for funding for retraining. ACC generally funds training only if it is part of a vocational rehabilitation plan designed to help a client return to work after an injury. Prior approval is usually required for this and your ACC Case Manager will then be able to refer you to Professional IQ. Alternatively, we can assist you with your application for funding to your ACC Case Manager.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can I get a student loan for the course with Professional IQ?
No, you are not eligible for a student loan for the NZ Certificate in Financial Services with Professional IQ.
What type of benefits qualify for WINZ funding?
All our recent students who have had WINZ support have been on the unemployment benefit. However, you may still be eligible if you are on another type of benefit and we recommend you discuss this with your Case Manager.
Will WINZ pay for all of the course or only part of it?
WINZ may pay for all or part of the Certificate or course. This is managed on a case-by-case basis. Most of our applicants though have had all of their course fees paid for by WINZ.
If I am on ACC, can I also get funding for this qualification?
Yes. ACC will fund additional vocational training to help you re-enter the work force. There are requirements around the funding, and you will need to get ACC’s approval in advance which may involve an occupational assessment first. Please talk to your ACC Case Manager first.
